The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) invites all to meet with jewelry industry recruiters at its Jewelry Career Fair on July 28, 2006, at New York City's Jacob Javits Convention Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
In addition, the Jewelry Career Fair boasts a wide range of panels and workshops featuring high-profile jewelry industry experts. These sessions offer practical insights into acquiring a first job or advancing an already established career. Industry experts will help people define their career goals and make their current skills and experience relevant to gem and jewelry employers.
"The GIA Jewelry Career Fair is an excellent opportunity for companies to meet hundreds of highly-qualified and eager job seekers," said Kathryn Kimmel, Career Fair creator and GIA's vice president of marketing and public relations.
GIA's Career Fair was founded in 1991 by GIA and The Jewelers 24 Karat Club of Southern California. The VNU Jewelry Group is prime sponsor for the New York Career Fair in July 2006. The JCK International Publishing Group and The Jewelers 24 Karat Club of Southern California are prime sponsors for a second fair in Carlsbad, California, on October 27, 2006.

The Diamonds Salon, owned by Tiffany & Co., has opened at upscale South Coast Plaza in Newport Beach, California. The 750-square-foot salon, a first for a Tiffany location, focuses on engagement rings and diamond jewelry collections.
Diamond collections include engagement jewelry from the classic Tiffany setting to the patented Lucida diamond cut and setting; and the diamond-encrusted rings from the Tiffany Legacy Collection.
"Tiffany diamonds are about more than absolute quality, cut and beauty - they are one of our great traditions," said Jeffrey Bennett, vice president of Tiffany & Co. "A salon dedicated to these timeless jewels serves our customers with an elegant environment designed for comfort and convenience, and with the latest innovations to experience these extraordinary stones in their truest light."
Great attention was given to the store's detail including polished Makore wood panels and stainless steel-framed showcases, all of which were configured for customer convenience as well as to highlight the jewelry. In the private sales rooms, color-adjustable LED lighting recreates daylight for optimum viewing of the diamonds' color and clarity, and also simulates candlelight or room lighting.
"A salon dedicated to our diamonds underscores Tiffany's reputation as a world premier jeweler synonymous with diamonds of the finest quality," said Bennett. "The salon is primarily designed to better serve our customers and also convey the welcoming atmosphere that is a unique part of the shopping experience at Tiffany & Co."
